My family - 24/5/09

Welcome to my blog!

I've started this blog as a record of my family life more than anything else. Time passes so quickly and there are things you think you will never forget but somehow you do....
I am Natalie, married to David since 14th May 2005. We have two gorgeous children Lyra (born 28/Jan/07) & Logan (born 20/Mar/09) and a crazy cat called Cassie. Life is hectic but good!

A first birthday, Easter, Sharing a room and other big adventures

Oh dear, it's almost been a month since I last blogged. We've been rather busy and exciting grown-up things have been happening with my little ones.

Of course the big event was Logan's first birthday. My little monkey had a little party with a couple of friends over the day before and a nice family day of presents and cake and cuddles and playtime on the big day itself. He is getting much better at opening presents now he's had some practise and ripped the wrapping paper off happily. His favourite presents by far were his cars - my little boy is a definite fan of cars! The Brio train set will be a lasting present though and Lyra enjoys playing with it too. The cake went down very well and I was quite happy with how it turned out. I will have to find other excuses for making & decorating cakes after David's birthday on Saturday has passed... Really hoping I get a chance to decorate his cake on friday!

Last weekend was Easter, which is always a big family thing with us. In a change to our usual tradition we went to spend the saturday and sunday at my parents' house with my sisters and Genni's boyfriend Simon. It was a lovely relaxed affair with lots of yummy food and chocolate, an Easter Egg hunt and even a board game on Saturday evening! Lyra and Logan adore my family so it was great fun and I even had a little time to rest myself :0) I really miss my sisters now they have both moved away and am very glad we are so close that we all make an effort to keep in close touch.

I took the weekend off from my diet but have been back to it for the past couple of days so hoping damage limitation will mean my hard work isn't all undone!!! I have now lost over 2 stone and weigh the same as I did at 17/18. I aim to lose another stone by the summer so fingers crossed I can keep up the motivation.....

Another couple of very recent steps forward involve bedtime - Logan spent last night sharing Lyra's bedroom for the first time and Lyra finally agreed to say goodbye to her dummy over the past few days! Sleep wise it went fine, Logan woke twice but Lyra slept through it and he settled back down again. In fact it was the first night in a while that he hasn't come into our bed until morning (6am!). A bit of a nuisance for me to go in there when he wakes as it's more effort but it does mean I have to get up and of course I will continue to be the only one that gets up in the night for him... but then it does mean I wake up so I don't wake in the morning to find he's appeared in bed with us and I have sleep amnesia! Lyra has relinquished her dummy in exchange for a Princess Giselle (Disney's Enchanted) wedding dress in her size. She was shown the dress and given the choice - dummy or dress - & chose the dress as she has lusted after it for weeks and weeks. To be honest she's not had her dummy for a few nights recently so was more receptive but I'm thrilled as I HATE dummies. She only had it from age 2 because we had a couple of "just in case" dummies we were getting ready for Logan's birth and David said she could "look after them for the baby". Yeah right, big mistake; she's been addicted ever since!! Never mind, it's gone now & I'm very happy.

I'm now officially on sick leave from work due to my continuing pelvic problems. These are being investigated further this month so I may even get a proper diagnosis & prognosis so I can make some work-type decisions. I've made 2 pieces for my Etsy shop and will put pictures of another on there to demonstrate a customisable project.... will be useful for Christmas money!

David is making an aluminium E111 blaster piece by piece and is continually upgrading his stormtrooper armour. He's 33 this weekend and I've hardly bought him any presents as he's been a bit awkward about letting me know what he wants until this week. i'm trying to make him something too but that's not progressing well because he's always there when I get a chance to crochet!

OK, I think I will do separate photo update posts because they are always a faff with text. I think I'm going to have to set up my own website soon and possibly have a little shop on there too...... save Etsy fees!

busyness...

Hello, hello, how's your weekend going? I thought I'd take advantage of the rest of the household being asleep to blog on the computer not just via e-mail on my phone.

We've been rather a plague-ridden family lately with constant colds over the past 2 weeks, poor Logan has had nasty tonsilitis & been on yucky tasting antibiotics, Lyra has been off of preschool this week as she had such a bad cough & David has just about struggled along...

The children are still gorgeous and wonderful though and David has organised some lovely surprises for mothers day tomorrow (I missed out last year as we had a 2-day-old logan to distract David & he didn't get around to it so he's really spoiling me this year... Lyra has taken to going shopping with her own little pink shopping basket, she has drenched herself in perfume today (made me sneeze!!) and runs around like a loon a lot of the time. She can sing beautifully and knows the words to most of the songs from "Enchanted" - she thinks she IS Giselle & asks "why am I falling down the hole? did auntie Genni (wicked stepmother!!! ha ha!) push me?". She is no longer crying when left at preschool, whci is fabulous!

Logan is climbing everything! he can and will push something over to aid his ascent, no sign of walking because it would slow him down!!! He likes to "talk" on the phone - or anything to be honest - going "heyo? yeah, yeah" and talks a little"mama" "dada" "arara" (Lyra) "dairs"(stairs= anything he can climb!!!) "yeah" "no" "done"(done - finished) "dat" (cat) & a few more but is ever so expressive without words - he will growl & make funny voices too! He goes "da da da dadaaa" in time with music & bounces to a rhythm.. posts things out of the cat flap, LOVES pushing his cars around the floor and makes car noises or aeroplane "niaow" noises (the latter while swooping his hand through the air) still eats cat food with obvious relish, chases the cat & his sister, both of whom he adores. no buttons, knobs or dials are safe from his twiddling little fingers!

As for me; I finally went to Occupational Health last week regarding my imminent return to work and my inability to stand for long periods let alone.... I was really worried because I hate to feel I'm letting anyone down but the OT was lovely & so understanding, she made it clear she was concerned about ME not just my ability to perform in my job (HCA for stroke patients). She explained that I need to go to my GP to be referred for an "expert opinion", which I did on Wednesday... & was also referred to the hospital for an x-ray (which I had done by half an hour after leaving the GP! super fast!) and a fasting blood test with the surgery Phlebotomist (next wednesday first thing) so I'm being fully assessed!! I have telephone number to phone next week to book an appointment with Osteopathy. Phew!! I need to see my GP next week or the start of the following week to be signed off sick but also need to contact my manager to let her know I'll be doing this & have physio next thursday too. Oh & it's Logan's birthday next Saturday so I'll be sorting that out and a little tea party on friday too so I'm super duper busy and trying not to get stressed out and EAT too much!!! I've now lost 1 stone 9lb since the 10th January and am very pleased with myself. I'd put a bit of weight back on due to my inability to exercise due to the aforementioned pelvic problems so I've set myself a massive target of 3 stone to lose by this summer, which is a MAJOR challenge when you have stresses going on and are still breastfeeding. I do SO hope I can do it - I now weigh the same as I did at age 18 and the lightest I have been in my adult life really. Hmmm what else - I've actually managed a little gentle gardening over the past few weeks - spring is on the way! So that's us - a little insight into our current lives!!

small treats, big pleasures

Hello! I thought I would take a few minutes to catch up while Lyra is upstairs playing nicely with her auntie Genni and Logan is chilling out & starting to doze on my lap...
I've taken advantage of Genni's presence and visited town this morning. After an initial drama of Lyra jumping in puddles and soaking her clothes on the one occasion I didn't bring a change for her & trawling charity shops for dry trousers we had a rather successful trip... I bought some "Hot Choc Shot" (that we have been waiting for for months!) and some fab chocolates for just 50p a pack from Whittards, plus coasters to match our favourite mugs also on offer...
In lush I indulged in a "heads, shoulders, knees and toes" box - full of a variety of lovely goodies - and a "comforter" bubble bar that is my absolute favourite. I also found a lovely chenille jumper and two fab t-shirts for Lyra, plastic scooby doo characters (a favourite with
Lyra), a "1" candle for 25p for a certain young man's rapidly approaching birthday and two chunky cars for Logan (probably a birthday pressie) from charity shops so feel quite satisfied with my spends! Lush and whittards are my favourite shops for little treats. The things I've bought will provide weeks and weeks worth of little treats and small indulgent pleasures, just what you need on a rainy February day when you have had little sleep!

As its been a couple of weeks an update is probably in order; Last weekend David was away in Sussex (4 1/2 hours away!) for the SFX weekender; in armour of course. We went to stay with my family for two days and the night in between and all of us really enjoyed ourselves,
though we missed him terribly he missed us more as we three were together... In the 7 years since David and I have lived together that was our longest seperation and it was very odd! On the Sunday our washing machine broke!! We are still awaiting a part & I hope that we should gave it fixed in a couple of days, we've done 3 loads of laundry at the launderette but are still bogged down! Then last week we had a major breakthrough with Lyra and the ongoing saga of crying-at-preschool; she didn't! It was the first time since October (when I had 2 tear-free sessions before half term holidays & they returned in full force afterwards) and inevitably this week is half-term!! It was a good week though as we visited lovely friends, finally met one friend's beautiful new baby and had a visit from lyra's godmother with lyra's birthday present.
Logan's 4th tooth (left incisor) came through on Monday, beating his 2nd (right) front tooth that is still en route. Genni arrived yesterday, we've missed her loads now she lives in London; it's been 2 months!!! Logan celebrated by projectile vomiting all over her, she's so amazing though that she dealt with it very well!! Having lost a whole stone in a month I'm having a few days off of dieting and we are having a Chinese takeaway tonight & if Logan is well enough I will hi to the cinema with David as a belated valentines day. I really hope I don't suffer for it weight wise!! I would LOVE to lose at least 12lb in the next 6 weeks before Easter... I'm giving up bread for lent; You never know I may do it! TTFN x

10 months old... My big little man!

the past week or so has involved some major developmental steps for my little boy. Please excuse the quality of the pictures; taken on my iphone!

The stair gate/ room divider had to be put up last Tuesday because he decided to start climbing the stairs... He now climbs the stairs all the way to the top, all by himself every night ont he way to the bathroom.....

Incidentally the stairs are not all he climbs. This morning alone he has climbed onto the footstool to get onto the chair to try to see out of the window (and then fallen off!) and onto Lyra's oy bench in her room to get to toys on the windowsill.

He learned to drink from his doidy cup all by himself (slanted, lidless baby cup) with minimal mess and great enthusiasm....

He has learned to post things out through the cat flap! I found a rattle out there yesterday, this is him trying to post a scarf!

And last, but certainly not least, he slept from 7pm to 5am last night. The first time he has effectively slept through the night! he's a happy, chirpy little man, into everything (including but not limited to eating cat food) and ever so cuddly but definitely mummy's boy! He loves playing with cars, trucks, wheeled alligators, brick trucks - anything he can push along expecially if it makes a noise. It's lovely that he can now play properly

As for everyone else; Lyra is now back at preschool and loving it apart from the initial separation from me where she still cries. Next week is he 3rd birthday and I am arranging a little party for her at home. She is very excited about the whole thing and to be honest so am I! I've ordered some coloured sugar paste from eBay to decorate her birthday cake and can't wait to see her face when she opens her presents!

David isprobably going trooping over the first weekend in February in Sussex!! He really wants to go but it's such a long way that he is still undecided. I think we need to properly look at possible troops more locally becasue he really doesn't want to travel such a long way from us and be away from me for the longest time since we've lived together 6 1/2 years ago!

I'm on a diet and have lost 5lb in just 1 1/2 weeks. I am hungry sooo often as I'm trying to avoid snacking!!! I'm happy though, mostly & keeping pretty busy. It's nice to get back into routine after such a long break and I'm very proud of myself for doing sp well. I do at least 30minutes on my wii fit each evening aswell as dieting so have less time for crochet, only real downside!!!!!

TTFN,I'm being climbed on!

Hello there!

Wow it's almost NOVEMBER!! How on earth did that happen?!
Goodness I've been so lax about updating on here. It gets to a certain amount of time since the last post and it becomes even more work to post as an update on everything feels required!! I'll do my best with some brief snippets of the most important people to me....
Logan is now 7 months & 1 week & getting incredibly grown up. When nappy free ha is crawling a little, otherwise he is successfully bum-shuffling a reasonable distance and can pull himself up onto his knees. He will drag himself over to me & then start climbing up my leg sometimes when he wants me :o) He's also eating loads & growing loads too, he has a new highchair so he can sit at the table with us for meals and have finger foods/ try to chuck everything in arms reach on the floor. He's a typical male already; loves food, bashing things, being noisy, music & technology. At the moment he's not sleeping well & is being very clingy due to developing another cold after just recovering from croup and teething (still totally toothless). He has also learned to nod & finds it very funny as it's kind of a whole body nod and says lots of "words"; dada, mama, blabla, baba, & something that sounds a lot like "Lyra".

Lyra is doing very well too, she is not crying when I drop her off at preschool any more & is pretty good at helping with Logan too. As ever her speech is fantastic and she comes out with the funniest things. The other night she said to david "shh... listen. It's the winds of change" (which apparently go blurbleurble) If I say something she disagrees with I get a quick "no no no" in respionse (a mannerism directly pinched from me) & she will make up songs about Logan who she calls "Loganberry". She also loves making things and we make cakes a couple of times a week, is always on the go & has daytime naps almost never (except for when she is ill like now)

I've been busy with my crochet I've made 3 pigs, 1 chicken, a sheep, lamb and ram & all but legs of a fresian cow for Logan's crochet farmyard christmas present. I've also made Lyra a little princess doll and 1/2 simon's hat. I have plans for putting patterns & tutorials on my other blog as I'm very impressed with my little animals that I worked out all by myself....

We've done really well with our christmas shopping already & have very little left to buy for the children (the big ones!) David bought me an iphone recently (another reason for my silence as cannot post from it!) so I'm LOVING that.

What with everyone's colds, new carpets meaning I have loads of sorting to do still (lovely new carpets though!) I'm just about treading water & feeling a bit low but hopefully acknowledging it will help me to do something about it. I must confess I'm scared of the idea of getting PND again, very scared that I already have it in fact. I really should phone my Health Visitor who is lovely but I don't want to admit defeat but I'm crying more than I should. Just 6 weeks ago I was the happiest I have ever been & I really want to be back there. Guess SAD doesn't help - very yucky weather at the moment.

David has been trooping again (& I didn't even tell you about his first troop!) & loved it again, I'm so torn as I miss him because I feel I hardly ever see him now but he loves it so much that he's happier & reacting to my lows better... I want him to be happy as that will ultimately be best for us both & of course because I love him.... & he does love his trooping :o)

OK I must find out how to update here on my iphone, that will lead to more regular updates I feel!!! until next time ttfn xxxxxxxxxxxx

October?!

Goodness me, it really is well & truly Autumn now... where did the summer go?! It's most definitely time for an update on us as it has been far too long, I just don't seem to have stopped!

Lyra has been at preschool for a month & is still crying when I leave her & begging me to take her with me but not for so long as at first so it's all progress. She does admit to really enjoying herself while she's there and it's just the moment of separation and the build up to it that upsets her so very much. It's absolutely heartwrenching for me though and pretty tough for her too. I often feel like crying too when I leave though! She is having fewer tantrums recently but is still definitely int he screetching & howling stage of her development, hard to handle when you have a 6-month old who is crying because he wants to be picked up too! She is wonderfully sweet in equal measures though, probably more than she is trying in fact... A couple of recent notable moments between my two lovely babies - Lyra crooning coftly to a crying Logan and saying "I'm here big little dude, I'm here" soothingly & just yesterday "Oh little boy don't cry, I will wipe your tears". She's so protective of him & has been known to chase other children away from him snarling "he's my baby brother!"
Logan is getting so big! Last tuesday at 6 months & a few days he weighed 19lb 1oz. I had been expecting him to have exceeded the 20lb mark though so responded "is that all?" in surprise! He's generally such a smiley little lad but has een a bit more demanding recently due to a nasty bout of croup, which has also seen him waking up coughing dreadfully 5 or 6 times a night. not fun! He's mostly recovered now though and the nice lady doctor that I took him to see was rather taken by him and he was flirting shamelessly with her & jumping up & doewn & asking for a cuddle! We visited her twice and the second visit she really noticed how he was even MORE bouncy & happy than the visit 5 days before as he was recovering. He is well and truly sitting without any help at all, rolls front to back more often now, tries to bum shuffle but gets carried away but can manouver himself a good few feet when he's lying down. He's eating loads & on the advice of my health visitor he's on 3 proper meals a day, lunch and dinner both full protein-based meals followed by pudding. I'm enjoying cooking for him though it's been harder to fit in with my own manic lifestyle!
I've been trying to get the house sorted so that it isn't in a perpetual state of chaos, the Ikea shelving units have arrived and been assembled the toys that are downstairs are in their new toy chest on wheels that hides under a bench, the new carpets will be fitted int he lounge, stairs & landing on monday so I've been trying to get everything together for that, the kitchen has been slightly rearranged and very much tidied, some christmas shopping has been done, I've sorted lots of Lyra's old clothes to sell at the Nearly New sale on saturday, David has been tinkering with his stormtrooper armour & spending time with our lovely new friends Ian and Sophie who are self-confessed StarWars nuts. (full summary to follow in due course!!) I've finally been to the doctor about my painful left hip (PGP still bothering me from pregnancy & getting worse) & I've been given a strong dose of ibuprofen (al i can have while breastfeeding) and been referred to physio pending an appointment, I've also crocheted a cardi for Logan (OK still umming & ahhhing over whether it's going to be a cardi or body warmer) & spent lots of time with my family. Genni has her first interview tomorrow - in London so argh! really hope she gets it as she's starting to feel a bit down because of the whole looking for jobs without feedback thing. Daniella has staerted Uni, had a meltdown & a panic attack & recovered & made friends & really sounds like she's enjoying it now..... Really appreciating my lovely sisters lately & will particularly miss Genni when she moves to London but we will definitely keep in touch..

Well that's a basic summary of some of our stuff, not much but plenty to be getting on with! Will try to keep updated more often but that's not really very likely until everything is a bit more together!!!

quick update!

I've not updated here for almost 2 weeks now, how bad of me! I had been writing something every few days! We've been rather busy so i've had very little time to stop & type so here's a brief summary of what we've been up to....
Lyra started preschool last week and does love it while she is there but separation itself is heartbreaking - she cries and begs me to take her home with her when I leave. She stops crying pretty quickly now (been to 4 3-hour sessions) & has a lovely time but does get tearful when I come to pick her up saying "please can I come home with you now mummy". I'm finding it very difficult to tell you the truth, not only is this upsetting goodbye-bit happening but she is growing up so fast! At the moment she wants mummy a lot more than she has done but still wants daddy more!
Talking about daddy, David is in the midst of stormtrooper fever, his stormtrooper armour is almost completely ready to wear. Good thing really since he's off on his first "troop" tomorrow in Taunton! We've been having a lot of late nights with both of us working on it in a bid to get it ready & tomorrow is the day! That's all I'll say for now as this project really deserves a post all of its own after the event (with pictures...)
Logan has a cold at the moment (so does Lyra in fact, she was sick last night) so he's all snotty & not sleeping well. He is sitting treally well, rolling front to back occasionally now & burbling beautifully - on wednesday he started saying "dadada" a lot but we also have a lot opf "blurblelurblelurble" & almost words "Heeyaa" "yeah" & what sounds a lot like "hello Lyra". he's eating really well & now on 3 full meals a day - from today with a pudding afterwards as my health visitor suggested his being sick is because he needs more food & less breastmilk.... He's fantastic & so cheerful despite being so pukey, though I do wish he would sleep a little better! he's still settling himself at the start of the night though so I live in hope...
As for me... what can I say?? I've finished a crochet diplodocus for Daniella's starting-uni pressie (she's off to Portsmouth on Thursday!) have made a little cotton crocheted blanket for Logan & in the process of making a pure wool cardi (pics to follow) as Lyra has had most of the clothes I've made it's Logan's turn for the moment! I'm int eh process of organising the lounge STILL & we have one of the Ikea shelving units up. i think the other may have to wait for next weekend though as I've not had time to sort things enough to get that up (need to sort Lyra's room too you see as current TV cupboard will go up there as toy cupboard) we're getting new carpetsin a couple of weeks, I've spent a lot of time chatting to Genni (we loved that it was09.09 :09am on 09/09/09 recently) & discussing life the universe & everything. It's wonderful tobe so close to her now.....
Anyway this "quick" update was quite long really! I'm sure there's more to add - I'll be back & I shall add photos soon too.... adieu for now!!

Happy SUNNY days...

Good evening & I hope you've had a lovely day? I'm sitting down taking the opportunity to update here after a really lovely day. My best friend from Uni Isa (aka Liz to anyone else!), her husband Tom & gorgeous little boy of just over 2 Jack popped by en route from their home "up North" to Padstow where they will be having a couple of weeks holiday. It's been over a year since we've seen them as they used to live in Bristol but moved to lancashire last July & oh how I've missed her! The weather seemed to reflect my happiness at seeing them and after a brief and violent shower in the morning stayed sunny, bright and breezy all afternoon. Lyra and Jack had a lovely time playing in the park, running up and down the grassy slopes and kicking Lyra's Peppa Pig ball, holding hands, rolling and tumbling down the hill, jumping, swinging, laughing - glowing with the exuberant happiness of little children that is just so achingly irreplaceable... It was fantastic to have a catch up & a hug with my lovely Isa, but far too brief after such a long time apart. I really feel we must make more effort to meet up regularly, really must.

David had an interview this afternoon but unfortunately didn't get the job despite working very hard ont he presentation required. They said other candidates had a stronger statistical background, which I really feel isn't fair as they shouldn't have offered an interview if they didnt' think he had enough experience in a key area... so the job hunt continues, it's definitely Time For A Change as he will have been in this job, with only theinflation payrise everyone receives each year, for 5 years this November. They haven't even given him the payrise & review they promised after 6 months, very naughty, & have just taken away his flexible working hours due to "changes in the business structure" Bullsh*t! the only flexibility they gave him was that he had to make up his hours & had to be in between 10am & 3pm every day. minimal flexibility in my opinion.. I'm starting to get a pang of fear every time I think of going back to work in February... 6 1/2 months... it isn't really that long and I don't want to be away from my babies now there are two of them to miss.

We've had a great week really; on Saturday we went to the Maypole Inn for a big joint birthday party for the group of mummies & toddlers we know (& several we don't know so well) which was fantastic & we even had nice weather & no rain until the afternoon. What a lovely idea, the lovely Jo H initiated it, Jo L runs the pub & organised it & Elaine baked a fab cake - there was a little bouncy castle, a pinata, ice cream, pass the parcel & presents & lots of children (though Lyra played with daddy mostly, she loves him best of all) - perfect & wonderful to see everyone as we all seem to have separated now. Tuesday over to visit Tina & Tom & Lily in their lovely new house, playgroup & library yeaterday & friendss over until late today... can't remember what we did monday (park & baking I think). I must make sure I keep us busy over the next few weeks, must make sure I phone people & arrange things. The problem is I'm not at all as confident as people think & unless I'm in the right mood I'll think people won't want me bugging them to meet up... isn't that silly from a grown woman?! I was discussing it with Isa today, how I often get left to my own devices because I don't come across as needing looking after, even immediately postnatally I've been left to it by family both times. Thank goodness I've been OK this time as PND was a very bad place to be after Lyra's traumatic birth and I don't want to go there again..... must try harder!

In order to not finish on a melancholy note - We started Logan on "solids" (i.e. mush) a week ago and he's loving his proper food!! We waited until her was 18 weeks old and though I really wanted to wait longer it just wan't possible with our hungry boy - he wasn't happy and was constantly hungry, what was I meant to do?!
Isa is on the way to becoming a professional photographer & has taken some fabulous shots of my family today but in the meantime here's some pics by me....
Both of my gorgeous little ones all dressed up.....

Nothing really exciting to say today -
Yesterday we went shoping then headed off to the park and Lyra climbed and ran and slid and balanced happily... she walked all around the top[ of the high wall in the basketball court with me walking next to her while Logan slept in the buggy. On the way home we picked some ripe plums from the plum tree we pass, Lyra loved them and I will hopefully take her to get some more tomorrow (and take a pic) as there's nothing quite like fresh from the tree/plant fruit is there. My tomatoes (all 8 plants have tiny green fruit!) and potatoes are doing fantastically - I may even have some decent carrots this year too. No flowers ont he butternut squash yet but there's still time, slugs have killed my runner beans but never mind.... I really wish I could have a huge garden with space for plenty of vegetables rather than the few I have!
I was very brave at playgroup this morning (LOL! how daft does that sound!) and asked another mother "please could you not swear in front of the children" (she had said f***ing 3 times by this point, at snack time with all the children together around her). She turned around and had a go at ME for daring to confront her, saying "I wasn't even talking to you, I can talk to you in a minute if you want. you saw I covered my mouth after" well yes you did, and then you said it again. foolish woman with your bottle blonde hair, bad tattoo and son of 4 with a pierced ear!

She and her similarly chavvy friend then sat sniggering and bitching about me in the corner - how childish! I am NOT going to sit and alow my daughter, who was behaving beautifully and eating her snack so nicely I wasn't about to take her to another table, to be exposed to foul language simply becuase this woman didn't have enough brains to us other words to express herself. They had previously been muttering together & smirking about the fact I was wearing logan in a sling (lovely ring sling made by mum) "Would you ever wear one of them" "no"*sneer smink sneer* "me neither. I understand the idea though, to save your arms...." kind of got it there, A* for effort though if you'd ever worn one you might really understand why I love it so.

My lovely friend Vicky cheered me up by just generally chatting & saying how lovely & happy Logan looked in the sling. And agreeing with the general opinion I expressed about "those women" too! I did feel rather on edge and shakey for a while afterwards, I do so hate confrontation and they were scary women!

When we got home we had lunch and then made some oaty bath bags, Logan had some funny tummy time...

(sweet isn't it! he likes to be able to see, which he can't so well during floor tummy time) did some dancing, watched monsters inc... & I was very impressed with Lyra's reflection of my opinion of what should & should not be said when one character called another "stupid".... Lyra "we don't say stupid, naughty monsters inc" well hear hear little lady, I totally agree!
Lyra is still doing incredibly well toilet training and it has now been an entire week since she has had an accident - & she's only had one accident since day 3 of toilet training! I'm now backing off a bit and letting her decide when she needs to "go" except for just before we go out & if she's busy doing things as she's more likely to forget then. So very proud of her! Logan is now settling himself to sleep alone in hiis cot every night after his bath/massage/milk routine I kiss him and put him in his cot - he doesn't even grumble as long as he hasn't got any trapped wind and isn't still hungry!
I really, really need to get some organisation going in this house, wish I had the time! I've been feeling a bit down lately, I'm pretty certain due to my coil, and the general chaos in the house doesn't help this. I've felt a bit better today and yesterday though I have ordered some more yarn from ebay (pretty sparkly Rowan yarn that was on sale - on SALE!) and am worried my stash is becoming too huge!! I intend to crochet a bag from the yarn I have to keep the yarn I will doubtless get before too long... Making things is so lovely & therapeutic I'm so glad I have discovered this glorious set of hobbies!
